Iroko star performer in Africa

Sapele prices have held the higher levels achieved last month and demand reported as still brisk (LM 259 Euro/cbm, B 244 Euro/cbm, B/C 206 Euro/cbm). Canada: New Home Construction

The seasonally adjusted annual rate of housing starts was 195,500 in January, compared with 219,400 starts in December 2003. The seasonally adjusted annual rate of urban starts fell 11.4 per cent to 169,900 units, with most of the decline coming from multiples. Recovered? Japan Housing Starts 2003

For the first time since 2000 the statistic for housing starts in Japan showed an increase. Overall starts increased to 1,600,000 mill. units (2002: 1,151,00 units 2001: 1,173,000 units). The starts of wooden building went up from 503,000 units 2002 to 523,000 units last year. This is the highest number since 2000.
