Taiwan 's new wood frame code opens door for BC forest products

Taiwan 's new wood frame building code could mean up to 10,000 additional wood frame construction starts in that country by 2010. Tembec temporarily closes two sawmills

Tembec announced that it plans to temporarily shut down two of its sawmills on December 1st. The Béarn, Québec and Cochrane, Ontario sawmills have been negatively impacted by the unwarranted and illegal countervailing and antidumping export duties imposed on softwood lumber by the US. UK Coniferous standing sales prices

Coniferous standing sales prices in Great Britain were 19.9 percent lower in real terms in the year to September 2003, compared with the previous year. Finland against EU plant health directive

The Finnish forest industries strongly opposes the proposed changes to the plant health directive. According to plans all coniferous wood imported into the EU would have to be inspected before crossing the border. Canfors Countervail Duty reduced
